Our products will exceed the national wood industry standards for quality and consistency. Our products are made from 100% natural and renewable American hardwood and softwood. Our waste product is recycled into Eco Heating wood bricks for home heating use.

Business History – since 1978

Sawmill Bill’s Interlochen Wood Products, Inc. has manufactured wood products in Benzie County, Michigan since 1978. We began with a logging operation and a sawmill. Although we no longer operate the sawmill, the owner's nickname "Sawmill Bill" has stuck. We later expanded to include numerous dry kilns and a manufacturing facility with high end wood processing machinery producing a variety of lumber products including, but not limited to flooring, paneling, moldings, board stock, log siding and conventional wood siding. We process custom products made to our customer’s specifications as well as stocking our inventory. We concentrated on producing quality dried lumber products, custom and production.

In 1997 we expanded to our current location on US-31. We fine tuned our wood product manufacturing operation by using the finest wood production equipment available. We have shipped our products all over the world.

Bill Reitz, the owner, has traveled world wide considering various wood species to use in the production our products. North American lumber, specifically slow grown northern Michigan hardwood, make a superior quality, consistent product. We use N. American hard and softwood in our products. If a customer wishes a foreign species, we can obtain and produce that too.

 Bill has a long and varied experience in the lumber business, and an extensive working knowledge of all manner of wood products from the ground up. He has grown and harvested trees, built, owned and operated a sawmill, dry kilns and production facilities.  He has been a licensed Michigan builder for 35 years. His willingness to share his knowledge with his customers has made him a tremendous resource.
